Bonnie was relinquished to the sanctuary just before Christmas. She was suffering from undiagnosed Lyme disease having been bitten by a tick. Her owners had self diagnosed a case of laminitis and were unfortunately unwilling to call in a vet for a professional opinion. Fortunately they relented as her condition worsened and with the help of a vet we were able to persuade them to relinquish her to the care of the sanctuary. She arrived with severe inflammation in her front legs and was really suffering. She could barely walk and was using her nose to balance her movements. Thankfully her treatment has progressed well and the New Year has brought some improvement and we can be cautiously optimistic about her future. It is clear that she will have a long battle against this unforgiving disease but we will do everything that we can to help her win her battle.
